There’s something so magical in the air at Christmas time that’s utterly unique to this special time of the year. Couple that with a winter wedding which incorporates an elegant nod to Christmas and you have a day full of festive romance. We all need a bit of love and hope during the darkest months of the year and what better way to spread this than with an elegant Christmas wedding.
From snow like confetti to emotional first looks this beautiful winter wedding of Matthew and Clare will give you all the Christmas feels…
I really loved Matthew’s buttonhole created by No.14 The Flower Shop the delicate rose with just a touch of greenery sits so perfectly with the winter berries.
Clare looked stunning in her Halfpenny London and Charlie Brear two piece wedding gown which she paired with sparkly Manolo Blahnik heels and an elegant updo created by Hair By Bethan. Not only did Clare get ready at her childhood home with her Mum, Dad and bridesmaids by her side she also wore her Mum’s stunning wedding veil. I absolutely love it when my brides incorporate something so special into their day.
Mother and daughter moments like these are everything! I feel them even more now that I have my little girl Rose…
Over at Matthew and Clare’s beautifully styled home Matthew was getting ready with his family and groomsmen.
It’s moments like these that make capturing weddings so special, the look on Clare’s Mum and Dad’s face is an honour to witness and preserve. Their bond captured in a single photo, all the years of love and devotion, this kind of love deserves to be cherished, captured and shared.
Isn’t Clare’s heirloom veil just stunning…
The MOST important moment of the day, the ceremony. While details do matter and planning is necessary, it’s important to never lose sight of the real purpose of this amazing day! I love these moments from M&C’s ceremony, it’s so special to be able to re-visit all the emotions from that moment in years to come when you’re looking through your wedding album.
It’s unlikely that you’ll have a white winter wedding in the UK (not unheard of but also not very common) so a winter wedding confetti tip: make it look like snow…
After their church ceremony it was time to head to their elegant Christmas wedding reception at West Tower, following the classic Bentley carrying the newlyweds for delicious canapés and champagne.
Their day was full of personal touches that really made their wedding day unique to their love. All these gorgeous mirrors adorned with beautiful calligraphy now hang proudly in Matthew and Clare’s home, what a sweet idea.
Clare commissioned No.14 The Flower Shop to create this beautiful floral arch at the entrance of their wedding breakfast. It’s the perfect show stopper and makes a stunning backdrop for photography. As it was a winter wedding and pretty cold that day it was the perfect place to capture family portraits, bridal party photos and even some of their couple portraits. Everyone stayed nice and warm and with all the natural light flooding in from the large window it was the perfect spot!
Important tip: Without all this natural light these photos just wouldn’t look the same so if you are planning a winter wedding it really is so vital to take into consideration your natural light sources.
Oh this little guy was the cutest, these moments are what it’s all about. In a room full of noise, excitement, laughter, busyness, these moments lie within and it’s my job to seek them out and capture them for you to treasure forever, the moments you would otherwise not even witness.
I do love classic black and white photos, there is just something about them that makes the emotions stand out more don’t you think?
After their winter wedding M&C headed on honeymoon to New York City for the trip of a lifetime and returned on Christmas Eve to celebrate with their families, pretty romantic right! During their honeymoon I sent over their sneak peek on their 1st week anniversary and this is what Clare had to say:
“Wow!! Thank you so so much Christina!! I wasn’t expecting that. You’ve made our honeymoon 100 times more magical”
Congratulations Mr and Mrs Harrison and thank you so much for having me there to capture your most precious memories. I wish you a lifetime of happiness together! Keep in touch!
With love,
Christina x
